When our customers compare our 15oz.vinyl fabric to A&E’s 12oz. fabric and Carefree of Colorado’s 11oz. awning fabric they can "see and feel" the difference. If your A&E slide out awning or your Carefree slide out awning fabric needs to be replaced we have the solution to the common RV'ers complaints about OEM manufacturers fabrics. Our heavier slide out awning fabric with its tighter webbing will outlast comparable OEM slide topper fabrics.

Measuring Guidelines for Slide Out Replacement Fabrics
We custom make each awning to your specific needs. The following guidelines will give you a perfect fit.
To measure for your awning length:
Measure your roller tube (the tube which the fabric wraps onto) "inside endcap to
to inside endcap" and subtract 1 1/2". Our objective is to comfortably fill the
roller tube to achieve the best coverage for your slide room. We like to have the
fabric to within approximately 1" of each endcap.
To measure your awning depth:
Measure your "slide room extension." (How far your slide comes out) Awning
manufacturers have a "one size fits all" mentality which very often results in
excessive amounts of fabric wrapped on the roller tube. We will take your "slide
room extension" measurement and add approximately 1 foot which will achieve
a more workable fabric depth.
Do you have a metal guard? If so the metal guard will wrap around roller tube when slide is in.
(We need to know whether or not you have a metal guard since they are made differently.)
Carefree of Colorado Note of clarification: Our fabric is vinyl, many of Carefree's awnings which are not white are acrylic (cloth like).

Carefree of Colorado
Note of clarification: Our fabric is vinyl, many of Carefree's awnings which are not white are acrylic (cloth like).
The following pictures are just 2 of Carefree's many different model of awnings. Many of their awnings use the "tear drop" shape cover on the ends of the mounting hardware. There is a model which doesn't have any type of cover (upper or lower...as in this picture) and does not use the tear drop. If the hardware does not use the hexagon shaped tube as in the A&E it most likely is Carefree...but to be sure send us a picture so you and I know what we are dealing with.
Carefree Omega
Awnings with the question mark arms are the Carefree Omega...which means they can also double as a window awning. Many Rv'ers who have these are "clueless" as to what they are (and subsequently we are learning want to blame me for the confusion). Sounds wierd...but its the truth!
The collar near the top of the vertical portion of the arm is a locking mechansim...slide it up and the arm is released. It will then pull away from the face of the room and you can pull the awning out to its full extent to cover the window. There should be awning straps hanging down from the roller tube to extend the awning and these can be attached to metal fingers installed on the face of the room to hold the awning out.
Our regular measuring instructions will work if you do not intend on using your awning over the window. If you are going to use it over the window pull the awning all the way out and secure it. Measure from awning rail on side of rv all the way to the roller tube. The maximum distance we can go is 59" which will work for most rooms. Also we do not make valances...the decorative piece that hangs down when awning is fully extended. If you are OK with these limitations we can help you out. Please call with any ?.
Testimonials from some of our customers:
I have had my new Tough tops slide toppers on the rig for a while now. Boy, what difference over the OEM. They don't flap as much in the wind, probably due to heavier material weight and they look really good. I expect they will last longer than I will own the RV.
You all were a pleasure to deal with, delivered on time, and even happily responded to a few “dumb” questions I had about installation. Installation was a breeze, but requires at least two people.
I have had numerous Rv'ers ask where I got my new slide toppers and I was pleased to tell them
Tough Tops. I can hope they have contacted you for their replacements so they can be as happy as I am. Thanks! R.A.
I wanted to thank you for the awning material, and easy to follow instructions. It's hard to find a place where you get the best quality, best service, and the best price. We've
referred you to friends and family and won't hesitate to get our future awning replacements from you.
Thanks again. S.D.
Ray, I received my new slide topper material. The Quality is excellent and the fit was spot on. The installation was a breeze especially with the instructions you provided. Thanks for all of your assistance. I will definitely be recommending you to others. J.S.
Just a note, when someone asks about how tough the canvas
really is on the slideout covers. Caught the edge of a tornado
coming out to South Padre Island, Texas. 60+ winds plus my speed, guess 100 MPH across the slideouts. My big slideout cover lock let loose, and that canvas cover blew up like a parachute. Could not stop, I am in the middle of the causeway, so had to wait till the other side. Stopped, cover rolled up and no fraying, no cracks, not tears. This material is head and shoulders above that crap that came new on the motorhome.
P.M.
Received our new topper last evening from you. Your instructions
were easy to follow and I am happy to report the new awning is on our coach with no problems at all. So nice to buy a product
that looks great and is everything it's claimed to be. Very pleased. Jim & Debbie
Thank you for once again responding so quickly. Our previous purchase was delivered very timely, was a perfect fit and installed very easily. Thank you for providing excellent service and an excellent product to the RV community. D.W.
